The Toolkits Heroes of change – citizenship education and child participation in decision-making have been published on-line. The resources guide educators in the formal and non-formal system through a process of citizenship education about the local government and how to organize inclusive child participation at local level. The Heroes of change are adapted for pupils 5th-8th grades and 9-12 grades. The toolkits contain workshops described step by step with on-line quizzes, interactive role and simulation games, questions for reflection and tips based on the practice. The resources are approbated in 35 School Dobri Voynikov, Sofia under the Citizenship education via child participation Project funded by the Small initiatives program of Active Citizens Fund-Bulgaria. Some of the results are: increased knowledge of over 111 pupils on decision-making process in local government and on how to submit their ideas; raised skills on research, develop and plan and initiative, developed 7 initiatives for change of the environment next to, 60% of the pupils at school voted for selection of which ones to be implemented. Furthermore submitted proposals to the local government for separated waste management at school, reconstruction of the playgrounds and include budget resources for 2021, a chemistry lab at school, renovated WC, transformed classroom – all results of the ideas of the students and made happened to thanks to their participation. Currently the resources are available only in Bulgarian. We could provide additional information and develop tools in English on demand.
